About Carmen Benz…
Carmen is an insurtech veteran who has been in the industry for decades and has a strong passion for frontline distribution and sales enablement. She joined ClarionDoor in June of 2020 to lead the development and innovation of ClarionDoor’s Hub/Comparative Rater solution. Prior to joining ClarionDoor, Carmen managed various frontline insurance product solutions at SteelCard, LexisNexis, Insurity, and Nomis. We recently connected with Carmen for a little fun Q&A…
Before working at ClarionDoor, what was the most unusual job you ever had?
I have spent decades working in insurance and insuretech, with many of the same people, which feels a bit unusual, even if it’s not. While in high school, I worked at a cookie baking company with a generous job perk of practically unlimited cookies. It was a great lesson in discipline, but it wasn’t easy with so many delicious sweets to tempt me and my sugarteeth!
What is your favorite activity to do when not at work?
I love to be outdoors! I can often be found walking my dog at various parks, the beach, or on a local trail hike. I also discovered Standup Paddle Boarding during the pandemic and I’m hooked! It’s naturally socially distant and I really enjoy being out on the ocean!
What was the first and last concert you went to?
First concert – Bonnie Raitt was the first live concert I remember. I’m from a rural area without a proper concert venue so it wasn’t until high school that artists I knew came to perform.
Last concert – It feels like a lifetime since I’ve seen a concert. The pandemic has meant virtual concerts in place of live ones, but I was lucky enough to attend a couple home concerts. I look forward to attending a live concert in the near future!
What is your favorite quote?

What is your favorite vacation spot?
I love to travel and don’t think I could choose just one place, but as a Mexican American I have an affinity for Mexico and enjoy exploring my roots there. During Covid, my sister and I began tracing our ancestry and are planning a trip to England and Ireland in 2022.
What do you like most about ClarionDoor?
I like to feel like I’m part of something and ClarionDoor is a real teamwork environment. It’s great to work with a dedicated and talented group of people, who also make work fun!
