About Erik Telford…
Erik is one of the newest ClarionDoor members, joining the team earlier this year. Erik is part of the innovative team that develops the technology and experience for ClarionDoor’s Hub. However, being an innovative software developer is not Erik’s only passion. Erik is also a talented musician who has been composing and playing music since he was a child. Check out his solo album Kinetic and his band NORI. We had a chance to sit down with Erik for a little fun Q&A…
Before working at ClarionDoor, what was the most unusual job you ever had?
I lived in Japan for three months in 1998/1999 while I was performing with my band at a hotel in Osaka. We would sleep all day, perform a couple of hours each night, and then explore Osaka the entire night. Other than making music, we had no big responsibilities and got paid great for young musicians. It was amazing!
What is your favorite activity to do when not at work?
I’ve been a musician since I was 8 or 9 years old. I have an active music life composing, performing live, and producing and mixing for various artists around the world.
What was the first and last concert you went to?
First concert – the first one I remember was when I was in 7th grade. I saw trumpeter Wynton Marsalis perform in my hometown. The show was at a bar and I was underage so I couldn’t get in, but the staff let me hang out in the entryway (it had a great view of the stage) the entire show.
Last concert – I played at one just this week with one of my bands.
What is your favorite quote?
“In music, silence is more important than sound.” — Miles Davis
What is your favorite vacation spot?
Traveling around Italy with my wife in the summer of 2019 has been the highlight of all my vacations. I can’t wait to go back.
What do you like most about ClarionDoor?
The laid back atmosphere and sense of teamwork have both made a huge impression on me. Everybody is so supportive and easy to get along with.
